10 Not-so-secret Things to be Successful in Life, Marathon and Investing

Runners in the house? Here’s an interesting “listicle” of 10 things you’ve got to know if you want to be successful in running and investing. Leo is a good friend of mine I met in an online forum where we discuss about stocks and investing. Since then, we teamed up to bring you Overhaul – The Stock Market Strategy seminar and the friendship among us team members has then become fun, adventurous, full of laughter and good food, and personal finance-savvy in essence.

Without further ado, here’s your 10 ways to be successful in marathon and investing from a health buff and runner himself, Leo Manalaysay. (Check out why I love #5). 
1. Honor your Master (You cannot do it all by yourself!)
– Apart from me, you can do nothing.” John 15:5

2. You have to set a goal.

– You cannot achieve anything unless you have a goal.

– Break your goals into mini-achievable goals.

– Every goal must have deadline.

– Goal without a plan is just a wish.

– Start small, think big.

3. Know thyself.

– Know your strength and weaknesses.

– Know the best strategy that suits you (Training and Trading Strategy).

– Know your pace. Are you a sprinter or a marathoner? Long-term Investor or short term trader?

– Know your passion.

– Know your Core Gift (God-given Talent).

4. Find the right mentor/ pacer/ hero

– Find someone who can mentor you.

– Surround yourself with people that will support and encourage you in times of failure and success.

– Look for the best man in the league that inspires you.

– Investing (Peter Lynch, Warren Buffet, Jesse Livermore).

– Sports (Michael Jordan, Manny Pacquiao, Lance Armstrong).

– Life ( Jesus, Joshua, King David, Solomon, Daniel)

5. Know your Hero’s Battlecry

6. You must know exactly where you are and endure every obstacles.

– Marathon (Uphill, Downhill, Flat, Trail).

– Trading (Bearish, Bullish, Sideways).

– Life (Happiness, Boredom, Sorrow, Trials).

7. Prepare yourself.

– Change your mindset.

– Discipline yourself.

– Create a habit.

– Educate yourself.

– Read books and blogs.

– Attend Seminars

8. Make a plan.

– List all your resources.

– Gather all information.

– Create a time table.

– Create a daily, monthly. yearly Progress Log.

– Ask for suggestions from your friend.

9. You should keep going.

– No matter what happens, stay focused on your goals.

– You never know how far you can go until you’ve gone too far.

– If you fail, get up and move forward.

– It doesn’t matter how slow you go as long as you don’t stop.

– Every Step Takes You Closer To Your Goal.

10. You should enjoy the journey

– Enjoy every season of your life.

– Enjoy the sunrise, the scenery, feel the adrenaline rush.

– And smile when you cross the finish line (running).

– Give yourself a reward like a vacation once in a while.

– Do not forget to share your blessings and help those who are in need.
