Money Isn't Everything

Money Isn’t Everything

100 pesos.. That’s all he has.

I’ve just bought my fave c2 green tea when I saw an old man looking for empty water bottles.. He looked so frail, I was wondering if he feels cold at 1 am in the morning.. I noticed a kid playing around the pile of garbage.. A lil “selfish” as I am I immediately opened the bottle and rushed a sip.. then I put on the lid and gave it to the kid.. He hugged me.. I knew how dirty he was but who cares, you don’t get random hugs from strangers everyday.. I gave the old man a hundred and that smile never left.. I also gave the kid some food.. And after some time I noticed he didn’t finish it.. I was asking myself if it was spoiled or it tasted bad but I realized as soon as other kids arrived, he was sharing the food.. And the old man told me “salamat ne, may pambili na kami bigas.. marami kakain nito.”

Everyday, we ask the Lord to provide our daily bread.. Sometimes we keep asking for more and more.. And I realized that maybe, we are daily bread to other people.. We are their manna, their blessing.. A hundred pesos will be what in 30 years, but at that moment, it served a precious purpose – to feed a hungry.. As we talk about personal finance, as we talk about making money, I hope that you don’t lose that sense of social responsibility.. ‘Cause that blessed night i realized why I was investing hard, why I’m passionate in making money, why I’m raising funds for marginalized sectors to learn personal finance.. It is because we are enabled to give..

Multi-millionaires out there, serve well your purpose in life.. Don’t underestimate what the poor can give – Price tag-free happiness, humility and sense of family.. Minsan, sila pang mahihirap ang hindi madamot sa kapwa nangangailangan..

Money isn’t everything in this world. Until you get that, you’ll never be happy in your lifetime.
